Antler Reishi (Ganoderma lingzhi) is a variant of the famous Reishi mushroom that grows not in the familiar shelf-like fans, but in long, branching “antler” shapes. The fruiting bodies are slender, twisted, and sometimes forked, resembling coral or the tines of a deer’s rack. Their surfaces are lacquered with the same glossy reddish-brown sheen that defines Reishi, fading to creamy white tips where growth is most active. Under the microscope, the spores appear double-walled and ornamented, characteristic of the Ganoderma genus. Antler Reishi often forms in high-CO₂ environments, which encourage this elongated, antlered morphology.
